Carer Support

"To ensure Carers receive services designed and delivered on the basis of relative and ongoing need, choice and satisfaction to maintain and enhance their well-being."

The Carer Support program has three core roles:

  • To provide support and stress management through a natural therapies program eg. massage and reflexology.
  • To provide Social support, information and education.
  • To assist Carers to access Carer Respite opportunities designed to meet individual circumstances.
Provide support and stress management through a natural therapies program.

The natural therapies program provides an opportunity for carers to take time out for themselves, so they can refresh themselves and regain a sense of well-being. Carers are able to have chat and "off load" if they wish in a non-judgemental environment and have a massage or reflexology session. Carers find the program assist them to cope with the stress and strain of managing their caring roles.

Social support, information and education.

Social support, information and education are provided through phone contact, one on one visits and support groups.

  • The Aged and Frail Carer group meets every 8 weeks.
    The group meets to socialise and support each other. Guest speakers are invited as requested by the group such someone from Centrelink and Carers Respite Centre.
  • The Disability Carer Group meets every 8 weeks.
    This meeting provide an opportunity for guest speakers to provide information such as DSC speaking about Health Services, Centrelink talking about payments and information on Guardianship. The meeting also provide an opportunity for the carers to socialise and support each other.

  • The Younger Disability Group meets monthly.
    This group meets to discuss issues relevant to them and establish informal support network between them.
Assisting carers to access carer respite opportunities.

The program assists carers to find respite support option tailored to meet their individual needs. The program will arrange practical assistance if required to make a booking and to access funding if required.
