Respite

HCSG offers a flexible service that responds to the needs of carers.

HCSG's Home and Community Care (HACC) program will assist people with short periods (2-4 hours a week) of respite in or out of home.

HCSG can also assist with respite for one to three days as a result of Commonwealth Crisis respite funding through the Milperra Respite Program. Some of the options under this program are:

• Carer would like a break to stay at home on their own for a while. HCSG can arrange for the caree to stay at ‘Milperra' which is a respite cottage situated in the peaceful surrounds of Mt Helena, staff support can be provided to the person 24 hours a day if required.
• Carer may want a break away from home, the carer can stay at Milperra or go off to visit family or friends. HCSG can arrange for support to be given to the caree on their own on a 24 hour basis if required.
• Both the carer and the caree need a break away from home, both parties can stay at Milperra and HCSG can provided some staff support if required.

A fee of $25 is charged per night; financially disadvantaged people will not be excluded.
