Volunteering
HCSG operates a program for volunteers where they share skills, talents and knowledge to assist in the provision of services in the Aged Care and Disabilities programs. Volunteers are involved in day centre activities, transport, reading, walking, companionship and accompanying people to appointments. Volunteers are an integral part of HCSG assisting staff in supporting consumers.
Opportunities exist for volunteers to work in day centres, men’s sheds and transport services and also to assist with social occasions, training events and special projects. A broad range of options includes driving, mentoring, cooking, social support, administration and assisting with outings and activities.
HCSG welcomes volunteers by providing an induction and ongoing training so they feel comfortable in their role, a Volunteer Handbook explaining rights and responsibilities, the opportunity to participate in social events with other volunteers and staff and reimbursement of fuel costs and other out of pocket expenses incurred whilst on duty.
