HCSG began as a volunteer run organisation in July 1983 and Volunteers remain an integral part of the organisation.
Volunteer positions include:
driving consumers to medical and hospital appointments,
assisting in Day Centre activities (craft, outings, games, Mens Group),
social support
recreation "Buddy" for people with disabilities
other short term special projects.
Your involvement as a volunteer would add value to any program or project you decide to become involved in. As a volunteer you will incur no out-of-pocket expenses and you will have access to insurance cover, social activities, training and learning opportunities. You will also enjoy working with a great team of people, building friendships and being part of a new experience.
Community Service Program (Volunteering) for School Students
The West Australian Education Department has started a Community Service Program to help secondary school students understand the value of giving to their community. Students are required to complete a minimum of 20 hours voluntary services within their community. Completion of the hours is a requirement of the WA Certificate of Education (WACE) for students finishing year 12 from 2009.
HCSG has introduced a program to involve students in activities that help others and benefit them.
